COVID-19
Beta Variant

The Beta variant (B.1.351 and
descendent lineages) was first
identified in South Africa in
late 2020 and has since been
detected in many countries. It
has several mutations in the
spike protein that help it
evade the immune system.
Studies suggest that it may be
more resistant to some
COVID-19 vaccines.
Symptoms associated with the
Beta variant are similar to
those of other variants and
can include mild headaches,
fever, persistent cough, sore
throat.
